About Mediterranean diet

The Mediterranean diet is one of the tastiest and healthiest diet in the world. It is a low-fat diet rich in nutrients. This diet incorporates customs and rules of nutrition, which are traditionally followed by inhabitants of the Mediterranean  (Italy, Spain, Greece). Their culinary recipes make it possible for you to correct your figure and keep yourself in excellent shape, while enjoying healthy food with a delicious taste. This diet can rejuvenate and invigorate your body,  help you keep slim and avoid high blood pressure. The Mediterranean diet is a wisely built and balanced food pyramid. Around 60% of the diet are carbohydrates (they are contained in cereals, pasta, wholemeal bread, rice, fruit, vegetables), around 30% are fats (chiefly olive oil) and around 10% are proteins (meat, fish, beans, peas, French beans). However, healthy and happiness cannot be attained only though a sensible diet

Olive oil is one of the main ingredients of a healthy diet and the staple of the sunny Mediterranean cuisine. MIKADO olive oil of the highest quality (Extra Virgin) is rich in monounsaturated fats (the most useful of the fats). If combined with a low-calorie diet, it fights heart diseases, diabetes and obesity, reduces artery-clogging cholesterol and boosts immunity. It does not contain cholesterol and includes substances called flavolines, vitamins and antioxidants. Olive oil aids the assimilation of anticancer carotenoids that are found in many Mediterranean vegetables and fruit. So serve vegetables sprinkled with olive oil.
